I fell in love with someone

Who made me feel alive

Then tried to take it from me twice.

Once with their hands

Twice through mine.

Taking multiple forms of life

While I slowly gave them mine.

Familiarity became a red flag

Even if the sensations seemed safe

‘Til I understood: The familiarity I see

Are simply the pieces that were always

Similar to Me.
