⋆. ̊⟡ ࣪ ˖ Path to Publication Day 47: Novella Length Unlocked ༄.

As of today, I have surpassed 25,000 words for the ever growing final draft of my upcoming rockstar romance, The Comeback Part One. This officially puts us into novella territory prior to even reaching the midpoint. When I started this story it was supposed to be a real quick short story that I would release as a teaser while I worked on my longer stories. It is shaping up to be my first complete publishable novel but the finish line continue to stick to the horizon, distance, uncertain!

I’ll admit though, there was a bit of avoidance over the last few weeks since Chapter Four threw me for a loop. It has since been sorted out by adding another chapter and swapping points of view for the next. That will bring us to midpoint territory and from what I remember the chapters begin to get more and more quick and dirty as we go on with wordcounts as low at 200 for some chapters. So lowkey, I’ll be walking a line of first draft and second revised draft from here on out which will really start to beef up the word count. Thus far each chapter has been at least 2,500 words each.

I figure as long as I don’t stop, at this rate, we will get there eventually. Even if it’s not my best work, it will be my first real accomplishment as a writer. I’ve won NaNoWriMo four times, written plenty of ‘first drafts’, but I have avoided the editing process up until now. This experience is teaching me a lot of the pieces I’ve been missing to get from idea to actual career.
