⋆. ̊⟡ ࣪ ˖ Path to Publication Day 3: How Long Will it Take? ༄.
It’s official! I’m a full time author actively striving to make any profit at all since my commitment to the bit outdid my productivity during this deadline. After a season of saving, pooling resources, and using what I already have have allowed me to open up my schedule to start working for myself full time. How many days will it take? I’m actively finding out. It’s not promotion, it’s transparent progress which is more than I’ve offered in the past!
I’m three days in so far and I have completed the quick and dirty rough draft of The Comeback Part One, my debut novella. Though the word count currently pictured on the landing page isn’t completely accurate since I now need to transcribe the few chapters I wrote by hand. I forgot about that task until I was going into edit mode and wondered where a quarter of my story went.
Within this first window of relative freedom, I also managed to organize my office then actively disorganized it again by moving in three boxes of my personal artifacts that I’m finally prepared to face. Since we’re creeping up on our first complete year in this house, I figured it’s probably safe to finish moving in and continue my decluttering/lifetime consolidation journey I started in 2019.
Having experienced all seasons and waves of critters that have been inhabiting this place without interference for the last ten years the list of projects and the best time to do them is coming together rapidly. First on the docket, is this year’s winterization journey as we expect this year to be more like the winters I remember in youth. AKA, deep, cold, and dark.
Major areas of focus right now are wrapping up this novella for publishing, settling into the house(aka emptying my grandparents trailer), preparing for winter, and continuing to care for myself and my family without falling back into pause, aka, freeze mode.
In the coming months we have some family recovering from major surgery, a well earned vacation which will feature my first high stakes self employed traveling journey which will require actual accountability and methods to accomplish. Currently I have savings enough for three months. My path to publication, and more importantly indie profit starts now!
